This is an ex showman motor starter, quite unusual these days as they don't turn up that often, with the changeover to modern electrical systems.
Made by British Thomson-Houston these motor starting rheostats were once quite common to start large motors on fairground organs, rides etc.
A great vintage item and ideal for the vintage collector or perhaps a set designer or even steam punk.
This Starter has been in store many years and hence has not been tested, so is sold as seen, as a trade sale, without guarantee for spares or repair.
